He enjoyed the influence and skill with which his work expresses the history of the American imagination. Among his contributions to his work is Brier’s use of photography, but also his approach to a photographic format. For example he uses photomancer images, canvas printings and collages of the work of Robert Louis Stevenson, Ralph Ellison, Hans Christian Lehtinen, Kurt Vonnegut, Wilfred Russell, John Wayne, Stanley Kubrick, and James Whale. He also collaborated in a number of printings and magazines, most notably his two or three great-known photographs “Be A Woman,” “Hip Gun,” “The Silver Bullet,” “Dirt Scene,” “You Don’t Need Every Half” and “Just a Child,” a pair of pictures which were shown to audiences in 1946.
