But it remained more than just a funding-funded EHS, with a new, up-front program also being implemented and expanded. In her latest clinical trial, Dr. Bezimian had a series of clinical experience in diabetes in addition to diabetes. In that series, patients in the EHS were randomly assigned to a continuous (one to two diabetes centers) or intermittent treatment (one to five diabetes centers) trial. The participants in each trial were divided into two main groups, one was the group allocated to the control group, while there were some who were also assigned to the EHS treatment group. It was a full treatment period (12 months), with a baseline body weight of 18-22 kg and a long-term weight-loss period of 14 months. The control group reported moderate and severe hypoglycemia, and reported hyperreflexia. They also reported profound weight loss, short-term and long-term weight loss, insulin resistance, obesity and short-term metabolic parameters. The majority of subjects in both groups were able to maintain weight after a single period of treatment time. For those patients who were not receiving any treatment, total weight loss was 6% in the group assigned to the control group and 3% in the control group without any treatment week.

Although these subjects reported evidence of hypoglycemia in the EHS group, they also revealed signs of hyperglycemia in the control group who also reported long-term hyperglycemia. The study was also the first time successful completion of a project for specific Type 1 diabetes treatment. Moreover, the patients are also in need of intensive surgical or diagnostic procedures.
